Pictured are the now-useless yellow Clean Air Vehicle stickers on DH’s Prius that allowed him, until last Thursday, to use the carpool lane with no passengers. While he and I are mourning, most news outlets report glee among non-sticker holders who generally considered the privilege for 85,000 cars unfair. One SUV owner commented, “Now … people are just left with an ugly car that they have to drive in the same lanes as everyone else.” Hmmph.
Today was DH’s first non-sticker commute in 4-1/2 years. He left late and came home late and reported it wasn’t as bad as he expected, although he misses the flexibility of the carpool lane. The white stickers still work, and next year California will issue blue stickers to electric vehicles. Hmmmm.
