Daily Reverence

Today I attended a daily mass in Fremont which, to my delight, was in the old Mission San Jose church itself. I’ve attended a few weekday masses since the beginning of the summer and it’s been lovely. Not to trivialize a mass, but it seems to me that certain daily rituals — such as a morning workout or walking the dog or meditation or even watching the sun come up while sipping a coffee — each in its own way expresses reverence for our world. The mass obviously connects me to God and community; similarly, other kinds of daily habits ground us in what we want to keep constant in our lives. So, carry on!
